Victor Shade Mixtape contest

victor shade
Alright the results for the Iller Victor Shade contest are in. If you missed it, we gave the contestants the entire Victor Shade album and we were open to any length of mix between 5 and 20 mins.

The winners, receiving $150 in Iller gear and the prestige of being Iller than the rest are the dynamic duo Kut Cobain and Rakka 397. They cut and chopped pretty much every track in the album into a solid 9 min sampler mixtape that’s tight enough to keep you hitting rewind all day, and serves as a real good showcase for the production and lyrical flavour on the Victor Shade album. Congratulations guys!

DJ Enki – Break It Down breaks mix

DJ Enki (Oakland Faders) just finished up his first straight-up breaks mix. “A snazzy CD called ‘Break It Down’ that’s a trip through some of the best snippets of my record collection. I didn’t want this to just be me backspinning doubles of various breaks, so I put it together in more compositional style, stacking loops and fluidly moving from break to break.” – Enki.

You can cop this thing right now from Giant Peach, or just hit Enki up at djenki.com. Hear another of Enki’s mixes here, and you can take a listen to  samples from the mixtape below:
